Duties
To administer the business affairs of the District in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available. Responsibilities include:
- Assists the Superintendent with the management of the financial affairs of the District.
- Assists the Superintendent in budget development and long-range financial planning.
- Establishes and supervises an accounting program adequate to record all money and credit transactions in detail.
- Supervises all accounting operations.
- Supervises the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds.
- Assists the Superintendent with the District's risk management and health insurance programs.
- Supervises the District's supporting services: Purchasing, Food Services, and Business Services.
- Oversees compliance of District facilities with state/federal health, life/safety, and handicapped access regulations.
- Acts as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the District.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all clerical, financial, and support staff personnel.
- Assists the Superintendent with the preparation, publication, and presentation of the annual budget to the Board of Education.
- Assists the Superintendent with the preparation, publication, and presentation of the annual tax levy to the Board of Education.
- Oversees bank reconciliation, cash management, and accounts payable.
- Oversees the collection of Impact Fees and Transition Fees.
- Oversees Imprest Accounts.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual fiscal audit.
- Assists with competitive bidding, informal quotations, employee group negotiations, and items of supply and equipment necessary for the operation of the School District.
- Supervises payroll authorization preparations and all related files.
- Assists the Administrative team with the writing of competitive grants.
- Assists the Superintendent with the preparation of annual state aid, special education, food service, transportation claims, and other state/federal reporting.
- Assists the Superintendent in evaluating, recommending, and implementing new accounting/payroll software.
- Attends School Board Meetings.
- Works on other projects assigned by the Superintendent.
- Performs other job-related duties established by the Superintendent.
