Share: Print: Duties Conduct comprehensive reading assessments (formal and informal) to identify students' literacy strengths and areas for growth Analyze assessment data to inform instructional planning and identify students in need of targeted reading interventions Design and deliver individualized or small-group reading instruction based on student needs, focusing on areas such as phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension Monitor student progress regularly and adjust interventions as needed Collaborate with classroom teachers to model effective reading strategies and differentiated instruction within the general education classroom Co-plan and co-teach lessons with classroom teachers to model effective reading strategies Assist in the selection, implementation, and evaluation of reading programs, materials, and resources Stay current with research-based best practices in literacy education and integrate new knowledge into school-wide initiatives Contribute to the development and refinement of the school's comprehensive literacy plan Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, reading strategies, and resources for home support Act as a resource and advocate for literacy development within the school community Participate actively in department, school, and district-wide meetings and professional development opportunities Maintain accurate records of student progress, intervention services, and assessment data Prepare reports on literacy trends and intervention outcomes for administration, teachers, and parents Qualifications Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Reading Specialist endorsement Proven experience working as a Reading Specialist or providing targeted reading intervention to middle school-aged students (5-8) - preferred Deep knowledge of reading development, evidence-based literacy strategies, and various diagnostic reading assessments Familiarity with response to intervention (RTI) or multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) frameworks Wilson Reading System and Taking Flight and DISC certification - preferred Salary/Benefits Salary: Per LFEA CBABenefits: Insurance - medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance are available Leaves - paid sick and personal days provided Retirement - TRS Professional Development/Tuition Reimbursement How to Apply Click here to access the online application.
