Duties

Duties:                            

  • Plans long-range lessons, units, and projects consistent with the established curriculum
  • Uses available district materials and equipment
  • Seeks and applies opportunities for collaboration to enhance instruction and student learning
  • Prepares a plan to assess whether material is understood using a variety of assessment techniques and uses the results to plan for future instruction of students and development of IEP goals
  • Prepares appropriate paperwork for Individual Annual Review and IEP/EDC meetings
  • Enforces classroom and school rules or procedures, board policies and regulations
  • Responds to misbehavior appropriately while respecting student dignity, interpreting/implementing BIPs
  • Handles classroom problems and is willing to seek supportive help
  • Ability to write and successfully implement functional behavior analysis and behavior management plan
  • Demonstrates competency of subject matter taught
  • Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of all students at one instruction time
  • Revises plans on an ongoing basis, considering students’ needs, ability levels, and interests along with goals and objectives
  • Provides clear directions and explains assignments, accommodations/modifications
  • Uses technology resources that are suitable to the instructional goals and engage students
  • Monitors the progress of students in the curriculum with documentation and data collection for goals/objectives
  • Attends required meetings, school activities, IEPs, trainings, and special education meetings
  • Promptly communicates with principal and/or parent when necessary
  • Provides information to families, as appropriate, about the instructional program
  • Communicates with families about student progress and is available as needed to respond to family concerns, annual reviews, and conferences
  • Complies with school and district regulations and special education laws

Qualifications

Qualifications:                Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBSI Endorsement. Career Based Education Program experience preferred but not required.
