Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive instruction across all core subject areas, including mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans
  • Implement a positive learning environment that supports academic and social development
  • Assess student progress through appropriate evaluation methods
  • Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
  • Maintain confidentiality of student educational records
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers to analyze student data and refine instructional methods
  • Integrate technology and creative activities into lessons to enhance student engagement
  • Collaborate with teachers to vertically align pre-algebraic and algebraic skills
  • Create instructional materials that support algebraic thinking at all levels

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Education
  • Applicant must have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License for the appropriate grade

Salary/Benefits

Per the current salary agreement; Health insurance is covered for the employee at 90% for single and family coverage at 70%; $25,000 life insurance; supplemental options are available at the employee’s expense

Additional Notes

Colona School uses a balanced calendar that mirrors United Township High School. As a result, school typically starts in early August. The school takes a one-week fall break (normally in October), a two-week winter break (December), and a two-week spring break (usually in March). The school year ends at the end of May, like most other schools.  Due to the early start, Colona is a fully air-conditioned school.
