Duties
Community Consolidated School District 62 in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking a district Health Services Coordinator for the 25-26 school year.
The Health Services Coordinator provides leadership for District 62’s health offices. The Health Services Coordinator ensures district health care practices comply with the federal and state laws relating to student health issues; develops and maintains procedures to insure compliance with the Illinois School Code and District 62 board policies relating to student health and health services; serves as a health care resource to teachers, staff and administrators, and oversees school Health Office operations and personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess changing health services needs and make suggestions and procedure changes for the purpose of identifying problems, referring for proper treatment and complying with legal requirements.
- Conducts in-service meetings for Health Office personnel for the purpose of conveying and/or sharing information on students’ health needs, service delivery, educational programs, and/or improving professional skills and knowledge.
- Contributes to decision-making for students for the purpose of providing required follow-up treatment plans and services.
- Develops and maintains community partnerships for the purpose of improving access to resources that benefit the health and wellness of the D62 community.
- Develops strategies for the purpose of completing mandated programs and reports in a timely manner.
- Ensures that all Health Offices are appropriately staffed and that personnel maintain current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid for the purpose of staying in compliance.
- Implement and develop procedures for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the Illinois School Code and District 62 Board Policies relating to student health and health services.
- Oversees the District 62 Vision and Hearing Screening Program for the purpose of fulfilling state mandated screenings, following up on failed screening referrals, and completing state reports in a timely manner.
- Oversees consultations and direct services to students with and without IEPs as recommended for the purpose of promoting and/or securing student health services; providing information and complying with legal requirements.
- Participates in hiring process for Health Office positions.
- Supervises and evaluates Health Office personnel for the purpose of overseeing the health needs of students;
- Ensures district health care policies and procedures comply with laws relating to student health issues; and ensures that district and state reporting are done in a timely manner.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between District 62 and the local health department, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on health-related matters.
- Stay informed of changes in local, state, and federal health policies, mandates, and public health directives. Ensure that the school district is in compliance with these regulations, and facilitate the implementation of new policies as needed.
- Monitor emerging public health concerns (e.g., flu outbreaks, infectious diseases, or pandemics), advising the district on potential risks and developing action plans to mitigate them.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Health Service Department.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Valid and current Illinois Registered Nurse license is required.
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Certified School Nurse endorsement required.
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative endorsement strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five years experience as a school nurse strongly preferred.
Salary/Benefits
Compensation:
District 62 offers an excellent compensation and benefits package. This is an 11-month, 224-day position. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $87,000 annually.
