Duties
The Superintendent will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the District and will:
1. Leadership & Vision:
- Provide strategic leadership aligned with the goals of Gallatin County
CUSD #7.
- Collaborate with the Board of Education to implement policies and set
district priorities.
2. Instructional Oversight:o Promote academic excellence and equity across PK-12 classrooms.
- Support curriculum development, staff development, and instructional
leadership.
3. Financial Stewardship:o Develop and manage the district’s budget.
- Ensure financial accountability, transparency, and long-term sustainability.
- Work with local and state funding mechanisms, including grants and EBF.
4. Personnel & Human Resources:o Recruit, supervise, and evaluate administrators and key staff.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous
improvement.
5. Community & Board Relations:o Act as a liaison between the district and the community.
- Attend and participate in Board meetings, preparing reports and
recommendations.
- Encourage community engagement and foster stakeholder trust.
6. Operations Management:o Oversee facilities, transportation, food services, and compliance with state
and federal laws.
- Ensure student safety and effective school operations across the district.
Qualifications
Candidates for the Superintendent position should meet the following requirements:
1. Education & Certification:
- Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or
a closely related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General
Administrative or Superintendent Endorsement.
- Meet all requirements set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education
(ISBE) for superintendence.
2. Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible educational leadership
roles (e.g., building principal, central office administrator, or current
superintendent).
- Demonstrated success in improving academic performance, managing
school operations, and leading teams.
3. Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of school finance, Illinois funding models (Evidence-
Based Funding), and budgeting practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with the school board, staff,
families, and broader community.
- Commitment to small district values and rural education.
Salary/Benefits
The total compensation package will be based on successful experience, education, will be regionally competitive. The final contract will be negotiated with the Board of Education.
