Duties
Primary Function: Responsible for increasing student achievement. Main functions include but are not limited to:
- Assisting students with developing thinking skills and content knowledge
- Planning and implementation of standards-based instruction
- Establishing a positive classroom environment and culture for learning
- Analyzing data and action planning
- Consistently communicating with stakeholders
Accountability: Reports to Building Level Administrators & District Level Administrators
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Professional Educator’s License (PEL)
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards
- Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies that lead to increased student achievement
- Thorough knowledge of best practices in education
- Thorough understanding of the content being taught
- Strong planning and implementation skills
- Communicate clearly orally and in writing
- Strong collaboration skills
- Data analysis skills
- Knowledge/implementation of restorative discipline practices
- Strong understanding of equitable classroom practices
- High expectations for all students
Other:
- Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations including special education laws
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior; serve as a role model for students and other staff
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Other duties as assigned
