Duties

 Tonica Grade School District #79 is excited to announce a full-time shared music position with Lostant Grade School. The position will encompass not only general music for students in grades K-8, but a brand new Co-Op band opportunity between the two districts!

  • Provide general music instruction to students in grades K–8.
  • Organize, recruit, and develop a Co-Op band program for students in grades 5-8.
  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
  • Plan and deliver band lessons (individual and small group).
  • Organize and direct performances such as concerts, assemblies, and community events.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate music into the overall educational program.
  • Maintain classroom management that supports all learners.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Music endorsement.
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of musical styles and teaching techniques.
  • Understanding of band instruments and teaching techniques for the respective instruments.
  • Ability to foster creativity and a passion for music in young learners.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a small school environment is a plus but not required.
