Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans a balanced orchestra program and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  • Provides individual and small-group instruction and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Teaches beginning students how to play a variety of stringed instruments.
  • Develops and implements a curriculum that aligns with established professional music standards
  • Plans, rehearses, and directs students in musical programs for school and community.
  • Evaluates each student progress in musical growth and performance.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Inspires and motivates young students to develop their musical talents.
  • Collaborates with other music teachers as part of the PLC process
  • Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
  • Communicates regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and upcoming events.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.

Qualifications

Current Illinois Professional Educators license with a K-12 music endorsement required
