Duties

  • Collaborate with an inclusive team to develop, monitor, and implement student IEPs.
  • Instruct students using a district-aligned curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans and goals that meet district expectations.
  • Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources following the needs of each student.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress. Administer standardized assessments as directed. Interpret student assessment data to apply instructional methods and monitor student progress.
  • Communicate consistently, effectively, and appropriately timely with parents and students about progress using oral, written, and emerging technologies.
  • Set clear expectations for students and manage classroom and school environment, applying positive behavior supports and interventions as needed.
  • Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as a role model by encouraging appropriate behaviors that lead to social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Director of Special Education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
  • Learning Behavior Specialist I or similar certification appropriate for the grade levels assigned.
  • Strong instructional, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, including the use of appropriate instruction technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability for student management and instructional delivery.

  • Salary is based on the NBEA contract and depends on experience/education.
