Duties
PURPOSE: The Assistant Principal, as a member of the middle school administrative team, will bring focus and attention to the proactive programs and systems necessary to build social emotional competencies among students. The Assistant Principal’s role is intended to increase safety and restorative practices, and decrease discipline concerns, within the school by helping ensure the integrity and fidelity of implementation of school programs.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Teacher, School Psychologist, or Social Worker possessing a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement or equivalent;
- Completion of the Growth through Learning Teacher Performance Evaluator Training Program;
- A minimum of 5 years experience in an educational setting;
- Collaborative, self-motivated, creative, energetic;
- Strong communicator;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective organizational and community relationships;
- Demonstrated leadership
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist building leadership in supporting SEL programming within the school and provide leadership for work to build and deepen a positive school climate and culture by supporting teachers and building MTSS leadership teams.
- Assist building leadership with daily discipline and student supervision with an emphasis on restorative approaches rather than punitive discipline
- Consults with principal/assistant principals and staff concerning social emotional learning needs of
- Uses data to make decisions and adjustments to the SEL programming and restorative discipline
- Assist building leadership and staff in analyzing and using assessment data to develop instructional improvement plans to increase student achievement and SEL
- Act as an additional resource person for teachers regarding student and teaching issues by attending team meetings.
- Oversee and implement cafeteria/recess (and other common area) procedures and
- Assist with supervision, evaluation, and assignment of certified and/or education support
- Assist with the creation and implementation of student lessons and interventions that increase student success in meeting the building’s behavior and SEL
- Assist with the morning start and afternoon release procedures (i.e., student drop-offs and pick-ups) and other supervisory responsibilities as assigned by the
- Meet and consult with individual teachers as needed/directed by the
- Plan and organize assemblies and
- Assist in allocation of subs and re-assigning of staff to cover teacher
- Act as liaison to the Transportation Manager and bus
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the

New Hire Placement Annual Salary Range: $82,500 - $95,000
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Principal
