Duties
Responsibilities:
A dedicated and patient individual is needed to serve as a One-on-One Paraprofessional for a first grade student from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm daily.
Start Date: August 11th, 2025
This crucial role involves working closely with the student under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and speech-language pathologist to implement individualized education program (IEP) goals, with a significant focus on facilitating communication through a language board.
Responsibilities include:
*Consistently present and utilize the language board to facilitate the student's expressive and receptive communication, modeling its use, encouraging the student to make choices and express needs, and accurately interpreting their attempts at communication.
*Assist with academic tasks, reinforce lessons, manage behavior, support social-emotional development, and ensure the student's safety and well-being within the classroom and during transitions.
*Assist with any necessary personal care tasks and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the student's unique communication and learning needs.
*Effective and frequent communication with the teacher, speech-language pathologist, other staff, and potentially parents regarding the student's communication progress, language board usage, and overall well-being is essential for the success of this role.
*Actively participate in training and ongoing learning regarding the student's specific language board system.
• Support Teachers: Assist teachers in meeting the educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of student.
• Data Collection and Monitoring: Assist in collecting data and monitoring student progress.
• Behavioral Support: Help plan and instruct social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavior interventions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the teacher to support student's needs.
• Professional Development: Participate in professional learning sessions..
• Environment Management: Assist in maintaining a well-managed, safe, and orderly environment that encourages respect for all students. Qualifications:
Furthermore, they will receive training on any other supports or strategies outlined in the IEP, which may include positive behavior supports, sensory considerations, or specific instructional adaptations.
Qualifications
Current Paraprofessional qualifications:
- At least 19 years of age to serve students in grades PK-22.
- Beginning January 1, 2023, individuals who are 18 years of age may qualify for the ELS-Paraprofessional to serve students PK-8 by meeting the requirements outlined below.
- One of the following required:
- Associate’s degree or higher
- 60 semester hours of coursework
- High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
- High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys?:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
- Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)
Salary/Benefits
$15 and up, based on education, experience and qualifications.
