Duties


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage the District's Human Resources department to ensure appropriate compliance of certification requirements of certificated staff and classified support staff.
  • Oversee the process of employment separations including the handling of the employment separations, terminations, resignations, unemployment claims and hearings.
  • Manage all leave programs including Family Medical Leave Act, Disabilities and Workers Compensation.
  • Oversees and conducts all District wide fingerprinting for local and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Organizes and oversees all substitute orientations
  • Oversees the District's drug screening process
  • Provide oversight of the District's Human Resources data and filing system
  • Coordinates the District's employee relations functions with classified and certified personnel including the administration of District contracts with Support Personnel Association and the Teacher's Association
  • Coordinate and development programs to encourage the growth of the District
  • Develop the District staffing allocation for all buildings
  • Coordinates  the functions of the Human Resources Department and the Substitute office with other departments within the District and provide assistance to all management levels and other personnel 
  • Maintain business relationships with local, state and national agencies relative to recruitment, personnel management and employee relations
  • Monitor and maintain all discourse stemming from the Superintendent's Office and Senior Leadership Cabinet related to District personnel issues, bargaining agreements and federal law
  • Brief the Board of Education on issues related to personnel, negotiations and state and federal laws
  • Coordinate, attend and manage all all job fairs and related job activities
  • Conducts frequent facility walkthroughs of all District facilities
  • Conducts exit interviews for all employees
  • Provide oversight and acts as a liaison for the District with all colleges, universities, municipalities and external partners related to personnel, job fairs etc.
  • Ensure that all services and contract agreements of service providers comply with Illinois and Federal regulations
  • Maintain current records of contracts, insurance certificates, licensure and background checks
  • Participates and attends Senior Leadership Team 
  • Establish memberships in relevant professional organizations and participates in professional meetings and conferences in order to keep abreast of educational developments
  • Develop media press releases per the Superintendent for local newspapers, TV stations and social media
  • Assists with the recruitment, selection and placement eof administrative, certificated and classified personnel
  • Maintain a close working relationship with school-based and District-level administrators to ensure information exchange, coordination of efforts and general support for the decision making process
  • Acts as the second-in-command when the Superintendent is out of the District
  • Attends various evening events in or out of the District as designated by the Superintendent in his/her absence
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Illinois Administrator Certification (Type 75) in Educational Leadership or School Principal
  • Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution
  • Doctoral Candidate highly desirable
  • Experience in public school administration or public School District Administration
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience asa building administrator
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of personnel law and litigation
  • Background knowledge and experience in School Personnel or related area preferred

Salary/Benefits

Beginning salary at $130,000

Additional Notes

Reports To:      Superintendent

Supervises:     Secretary and support personnel in his/her department, District Office personnel, Building Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers and Support Staff

Basic Purpose:
                        Under the direction of the Superintendent, responsible for the development, implementation, management and maintenance of the District's Human Resources,
                        Food Service and Custodial departments.
