Duties

The educator consistently attends required meetings, including special education meetings and school activities, and maintains regular attendance. They uphold professional responsibilities by maintaining and submitting necessary records, promptly communicating with the principal, special education coordinator, and/or parents when needed. They reflect on lessons and therapy sessions to assess their effectiveness and the achievement of instructional outcomes. The educator provides families with relevant information about the instructional program, communicates student progress, and remains available to address family concerns. In accordance with administrative guidelines, they share updates through newsletters. They foster supportive and cooperative relationships with colleagues and actively seek professional development opportunities to enhance both content knowledge and pedagogical skills. Utilizing available materials and equipment, they stay current with research in their subject area and pedagogy. They demonstrate a strong understanding of typical developmental characteristics of their students, including awareness of exceptions. The educator seeks and implements collaborative opportunities to enhance instruction and learning, and uses a predetermined plan to assess student understanding through various techniques, using the results to inform future instruction. They schedule therapy and interventions using multiple service delivery models—such as classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out services—tailored to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment. Additionally, they collaborate with school personnel to coordinate objectives for individualized education programs and plan evidence-based interventions and therapy suitable for individual students and student groups.

Salary/Benefits

Starting Salary: $51,775 per year with a Master's degree and no experience. 2025-2026 BCEA Contract
