Duties
Hiawatha CUSD #426 has an opening for a part-time cafeteria cook for the 2024-2025 school year.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports immediately to the Food Service Director any problem or accident occurring in the cafeteria.
- Confers with the Food Service Director regarding any personnel problems.
- Reports to the Food Service Director any faulty or inferior quality food which is received and/or prepared in the kitchen.
- Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily.
- Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes, and determines if the finished product is of the best quality in flavor, temperature, and appearance before it is served.
- Determines the size of serving to meet the necessary age requirements.
- Serve students and staff in a timely, professional manner.
- Works in a manner that is safe, proper, and efficient in the use of all kitchen equipment.
- Removes used dishes, assisting in cleaning counters, tables, and furnishings.
- Order food and supplies that are needed for the menu.
- Check food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
- Assist in the planning of monthly menus.
- Completes daily production sheets and inventory products used for the day.
- Stores and labels all food in a proper and safe way.
- Set kitchen up at beginning of school year, and clean and pack up kitchen at end of school year.
- Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance.
- Maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor when dealing with school personnel and the public as a school leader.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Food Handler’s Certification.
3. Good human relations with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
4. Neat appearance.
5. Demonstrated desire to help all children.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
and acceptable.
Salary/Benefits
SALARY: $15.03 - $16.03 per hour based on qualifications/Experience
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board based upon recommendation by the Superintendent.
Additional Notes
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation on non-certified personnel.
