Duties
General Responsibilities:
The School Nurse ensures a healthy school environment and coordinates health services for all students in compliance with State and Federal laws and nursing standards. Responsibilities include providing care for sick and injured students, maintaining health records, performing medical procedures per provider orders, and promoting healthy practices.

Job Responsibilities:
Student Health Compliance & Documentation:
- Track and maintain student health records, including required physicals, immunizations, vision, and dental exams
- Coordinate school-based health services such as mobile dental clinics
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding health requirements and follow up on medical referrals
- Ensure compliance with athletic physicals (Blackhawk Middle School)
- Share relevant student health information with appropriate staff and transportation providers
Nursing Care & Emergency Preparedness:
- Provide triage, treatment, and referrals for student illnesses and injuries
- Manage emergency situations, including 911/EMS coordination when necessary
- Maintain documentation of health interventions and medication administration
- Oversee first aid supplies, emergency medications, and AED maintenance
Vision & Hearing Screening:
- Assist with scheduling and conducting state-mandated screenings
- Follow up on referrals to ensure student needs are addressed
- Assist with required state reporting
Medications & Health Interventions:
- Maintain current health records and provider orders for medications and interventions
- Develop and communicate student health action plans
- Monitor and administer medications/interventions per provider instructions
- Ensure student health needs are addressed for field trips and extracurricular activities

Work Year: 184 days per district calendar
Hours:
40 hours a week, 8 hours a day- Blackhawk Middle School
7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute duty free lunch
