Duties
1. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 7:40am- 3:10pm.
2. Teach young children (3-5 years of age) in developmentally appropriate activities, using the Creative Curriculum model and the Illinois Early Learning Standards.
3. Model positive behavior management techniques and promote social-emotional learning.
4. Coordinate, develop and adhere to daily schedule for Early Childhood classroom. Post daily schedule in a visible location within classroom.
5. Complete lesson plans weekly and submit to the Principal. Post lesson plans every week in a visible location within classroom.
6. Submit Parent Participation form monthly to the Principal and enter attendance in Teacherease on a daily basis.
7. Complete required assessments and evaluations, including data collection and Work Sampling Illinois in a timely manner or as indicated by designated supervisor and Child care Director.
8. Set goals for children based on assessments and develop plans to work toward goals.
9. Communicate clearly and effectively with parents about their children and the program on a regular basis.
10. Hold a parent/teacher conference with families two times per year. Provide a narrative summary to families at spring conferences.
11. Support activities that encourage and promote family well-being and parent participation, including attendance at monthly family events.
12. Responsible for safe operation of equipment as well as reporting unsafe conditions and practices to immediate supervisor, to include conditions which could result in occupational illness.
13. Acknowledge and adhere to guidelines as a Mandated Reporter.
14. Participate in monthly reflective meetings with designated supervisor(s).
15. Attend professional development that aides in meeting the goals of the program.
16. Communicate clearly and effectively with Coordinator, Child Care Director or Principal.
17. Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Child Care Director or Principal.
Qualifications
Must hold a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Early Childhood Education endorsement. Must have or be willing to obtain an Early Childhood Special Education approval (ECT). Have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 3-5. Have the ability to work as a team member in educating young children.
