Duties

Manteno Middle School seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and highly skilled teacher to lead our middle school technology and engineering program. The ideal candidate will encourage discovery, exploration, and collaboration in the classroom while guiding students through projects that promote STEM concepts and creativity.

Duties: Develop and deliver hands-on learning experiences that apply real-world problems to classroom instruction, engaging students with practical challenges and fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts into daily lessons, ensuring that students are exposed to real-world applications of these subjects to make learning relevant and impactful.
  • Facilitate active learning environments where students engage in experimentation, design, and analysis, utilizing tools, computers, and software to simulate and solve real-world problems.
  • Assess and monitor student progress on projects and activities, providing constructive feedback and support to ensure mastery of key concepts and skills that bridge theory and practice.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students. Assesses the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, corporation policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Recognizes the special needs of students with learning disabilities, seeks the assistance of special education specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom. 
  • May serve on building-level and district-wide committees, e.g., curriculum resource adoption, curriculum writing, test analysis. 
  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
  • Participates in professional growth and development and stays abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations of the subject taught, etc.  
  • Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively. 
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develops and informs students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior and maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment
  • Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Certification: Must possess a current valid Illinois Professional Educator's License with appropriate endorsements for position and grade level

Salary/Benefits

Salary and Benefits are based on the negotiated MEA/District Contract.
