Share: Print: Duties Supervises, administers, and implements the school's educational program, in compliance with state and federal laws and Board of Education policies. Devotes a majority of his/her time to curricular and instructional leadership. Supervises and evaluates certificated, support staff and volunteers under his/her direction according to district policy. Assumes leadership for the annual development of and reporting on the building's School Improvement Plan. Articulate the school's programs/mission to the community and enlists the participation of the community in the life of the school. Implements board policies and administrative regulations and actively work to promote the achievement of the action items contained in the District Strategic Plan. Assumes responsibility for establishing guides for proper student conduct and maintains appropriate student discipline. Demonstrates familiarity of the negotiated agreement between the district and the Antioch Elementary Education Association and follows the agreement to the best of his/her ability. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the effective functioning of the school and takes leadership for the schedule of the early-release days, institute and in-service days, etc. Ensures that the building's crisis plan is current, and sees that the proper and necessary fire drills, tornado drills, emergency evacuation drills, etc., are conducted as required and necessary. Promotes the district and its mission in the community and demonstrates positive public relations and interpersonal skills. Participates in weekly District leadership planning and attends Board of Education meetings. Recommend personnel to fill all vacant positions in the school, following district recruitment and selection procedures. Establish a strong partnership with the Superintendent for a cohesive, aligned, and shared leadership model. Collect and analyze data regarding the needs and achievement of students, including State assessments, and other pertinent information affecting the design and implementation of services and programs, using the information to recommend new programs and modifications to existing programs. Provide and supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school and district, in accordance with due process and other laws and regulations, ensuring a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students. Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Qualifications Embraces a philosophy of continuous improvement through teamwork, collaboration and shared leadership. An instructional leader who has completed a principal preparation program with a principal or general administrative endorsement on a Professional Educator License (PEL) and is eligible to work as a school principal.
