Duties

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the District Director of Athletics & Activities with the improvement of the athletic programs of the district.
  2. Lead initiatives to innovate the promotion and visibility of the athletic programs of the district.
  3. Provide recommendations and coordinate efforts for increasing student participation in athletic programs
  4. Coordinate learning programs for student-athletes at all levels to meet the eligibility requirements of the district.
  5. Coordinate special events for athletic contests to increase community participation and attendance at school events.
  6. Lead the development of curriculum and instruction and improvement efforts for physical and health education programs of the district.
  7. Informally observe (non-evaluative) physical education lessons, athletic practices and contests, providing constructive feedback for expediting growth and success.
  8. Collaborate with the administration and physical and health education teachers to align learning programs at all levels.
  9. Oversee weight training and fitness programs of the district, providing recommendations for increasing fitness activities at all levels.
  10. Provide expertise and recommendations for the nutrition program of the district.
  11. Assist the District Director of Athletics & Activities with collaborating and communicating with athletic booster groups.
  12. Mentor all school district coaches, providing additional support for new and inexperienced coaches.
  13. Develop individualized improvement plans for inexperienced coaches to ensure growth and development.
  14. Support the development of all coaches in understanding communication, technique, offseason, and season planning.
  15. Train physical education teachers and coaches in sports performance data collection and analysis using current technologies.
  16. Train physical education teachers and coaches in best practices for sports performance.
  17. Assist the coaching staff in understanding the district mission, vision, core values, and beliefs.
  18. Identify and expand fundraising opportunities to support the athletic programs of the district.
  19. Assist coaches with resources, materials, tools, and information to support program success.
  20. Assist the District Director of Athletics & Activities in developing the budget, providing recommendations for professional learning opportunities and updating equipment and technology for strength and conditioning programs.
  21. Develop coaching-staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development topics and designs.
  22. Provide job-embedded, informal professional learning to the coaching staff.
  23. Assist the administration in the selection and assignment of athletic coaches.
  24. Lead the development and expansion of youth athletic camps, programs, and leagues, collaborating with local groups to align programs.
  25. Develop athletic skill-building programs aligning athletic program goals and objectives with physical and health education goals and objectives.
  26. Coordinate offseason training and weightlifting programs and schedules.
  27. Assist with the development of individualized training programs for student-athletes.
  28. Complete other assignments, including the supervision of activities, as directed by the Superintendent.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: (1) At least five years of experience as a professional educator and/or athletic program leader and, (2) other appropriate experience as an educator, school administrator, or director

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Professional Educator License with Physical Education endorsement and (2) coaching experience at multiple levels

Salary/Benefits

Compensation for the position is regionally competitive, ranging from $80,000 to $110,000.  Health insurance will be offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Benefits will be negotiated with the final candidate.  Additional benefits offered to certified-staff members can be accessed by clicking this link.
