Duties
Position Summary: The Regional Office of Education #4 is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resource Specialist to support our operational and compliance needs. This role is critical in managing HR processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements, and fostering a positive work environment. The HR Specialist will be instrumental in driving the effectiveness of our human resources policies and procedures across the organization.
Major Responsibilities:
- Employee Onboarding and Orientation: Develop and implement effective onboarding programs and coordinate employee orientation sessions.
- Recruitment and Hiring: Collaborate with the Leadership team to identify staffing needs and ensure fidelity of process in hiring practices. Coordinate the hiring process with the Leadership team: including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selection. Ensure diversity in hiring practices and oversee background checks and credentialing.
- Employee Records and Reporting: Maintain accurate employee records and prepare reports for compliance with TRS, IMRF, EIS, SIS, and other required reports. Monitor employees' licensure renewal cycle.
- Employee Relations and Discipline: Be an integral member of the Leadership team to develop and implement positive workplace culture and practices. Address performance concerns, conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, ensuring all practices align with organizational policies, state and federal laws.
- Compensation: Collaborate with the Leadership team to develop, implement, monitor, and maintain a comprehensive approach to compensation that addresses internal and external equity. It is essential to maintain adequate position descriptions for most roles at the ROE4.
- Training and Development: Coordinate training programs including university partnerships to support staff seeking advanced degrees. Support professional development initiatives to meet state requirements and promote employee growth.
- Performance Management: Oversee the employee evaluation process, ensuring consistency and thorough documentation of performance reviews.
- Benefits Administration: Manage all aspects of employee benefits, including enrollment, maintenance, compliance with legal requirements, and integration with payroll. Work with the Leadership team to negotiate with providers to ensure cost-effective benefit packages and effectively communicate benefits information to employees.
- Title IX Coordinator: Responsible for monitoring the overall implementation of Title IX and coordinating ROE 4’s compliance with Title IX in all areas covered by the implementing regulations. The major responsibility is the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHCLE, PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Advanced proficiency in Google and Skyward QMLATIV/HR management software.
- Experience in the education sector or with public agencies.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires occasional travel within the regional jurisdiction.
- Typical office hours with flexibility for meetings or events outside standard working hours.
- The employee should be prepared for this position to become fast-paced and high-stressed depending upon work-load requirements and deadlines.
Salary/Benefits
Compensation: This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
- Salary Range $62,000-$75,000
