Duties

                                                Director of Facilities and Transportation


Reports to:                              Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations

Work Calendar:                      Full-Time, 12 month position

Position Goal:                        Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations                                                               substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in
                                                developing, achieving and maintaining the physical school plant and                                                    grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full
                                                educational use of the same may be made at all times


The Director of Facilities and Transportation shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations:


Superintendent/Board:

  • Attend Board meetings as needed to provide support and informationto the Superintendent and the Board of Education

  • Conduct studies and surveys, and furnish other information asrequested by the Board of Education, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations

  • Implement and observe all Board of Education policies and regulations, and administrative rules and procedures

  • Follow all Illinois School Code laws relative to Facilities andTransportation

  • Work with Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations in drawing up bids and specifications in all related areas requiring outside contractual services and
    completing projects required by applicable law.

  • Maintain pertinent records, reports, and documents as required by law.


Facilities:

  • Oversee the supervision of all custodial and maintenance staff

  • Work with building principals and administrative staff in planning facilities modifications, improvements, etc.

  • Assist in the budget planning and assist in supervising the purchase of all supplies, materials, equipment, etc. needed in the building and grounds area

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment, tools, and supplies

  • Ensure that all rules, regulations, and policies governing safety and use of facilities are enforced

  • Develop and review building safety plans with other administrators annually

  • Work with Director of Special Services to coordinate ADA Compliance planning

  • Establish uniformity throughout the district in maintenance and custodial service

  • Consistently promote the safety, health and comfort of students, employees and guests of the district

  • Manage all emergency calls and situations twenty-four (24) hours per day

  • Provide constant inspection and safeguarding of buildings, grounds, equipment and mechanical apparatus, including boilers

  • Provide inservice training and instruction for the custodial and maintenance staff to promote efficient and updated work methods, including safety precautions


Transportation:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the operation of the District’s transportation program

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of transportation reports as required by state law and the District 

  • Plan all bus routes and schedules to transport students safely and efficiently in accordance with District policy and procedures

  • Formulate and administer student bus safety rules and regulations

  • Conduct one annual bus evacuation drill for all students as required by law

  • Annually evaluate potentially hazardous walking areas as defined by the Illinois Department of Transportation and prepare applications for approval from the appropriate department


Individual:

  • Assume responsibility for personal professional growth and development, remaining current with literature, new research findings, improved strategies and
    techniques, and attendingappropriate professional meetings

  • Develop positive working relationships with staff that promotes an encouraging, supportive learning environment and increases staff motivation

  • Be knowledgeable of the District Safety Plan

Qualifications

High School Diploma; Custodial experience with knowledge of materials, equipment, tools and building trades techniques; Custodial  supervisory experience; HVAC/Temperature Control experience; and Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Experience in Facilities Management

Salary/Benefits

Salary range $90,000-$125,000. Salary will be determined based on experience. The position includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits
