Duties

The art teacher is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging art lessons that promote students’ creativity and artistic development. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, encouraging students to express themselves through art, and ensuring students develop basic skills in various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and other visual arts. The art teacher maintains regular communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) with regard to their instructional program and student progress. There is one position available for the 2025-2026 school year and one position available for the 24-25 school year.   

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an art endorsement for grades K-8;
  • Ability to tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities, ensuring all students have opportunities for creative expression;
  • Ability to foster a love for the arts and encourage students to explore their creativity through hands-on projects and activities;
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction. ;
  • Individual must be flexible, creative and student centered;
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed;
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians; and
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary/Benefits

  • Starting salary of $49,029; (Please click the link to view the current (salary schedule);
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience;
  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;
