Title: School Psychology Intern 2025-2026 School Year
Assignment: School-year, 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM
Location: Winnetka Campus
Supervisor: School Psychologist and Director of Special Education
Compensation: Annual stipend of $17,000 stipend, no benefits
Overview:
This school-year internship position under direct supervision of a licensed school psychologist provides experience and guidance in delivering school psychological services. Experiences will provide an opportunity for supervised practice of a range of school psychological services consistent with NASP domains of School Psychology Training and Practice including assessment linked to intervention for academic, behavioral, and social/emotional issues; participation in school-based problem-solving teams (MTSS, child find), consultation with teachers regarding student functioning; behavior analysis and intervention; counseling (group and individual), and prevention. All duties are performed in accordance with both federal and state statutes, Illinois State Board of Education procedures, and New Trier High School Board policy.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in, or have completed, a School Psychology practicum and working towards a Master’s degree in School Psychology at an accredited university.
- Must be pursuing an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Psychologist endorsement and eligible to receive the license at the completion of the internship.

Supervision Model:
Weekly supervision with ISPA Credentialed School Psychologist Supervisors using the Developmental/ Ecological/Problem Solving Model (Simon, D., Cruise, T., Huber, B., Swerdlik, M. Newman, D., 2014) leading to increased independence throughout the year. School Psychology Interns will learn the skills needed to engage in the essential job functions of a fully credentialed School Psychologists, aligned to the NASP practice domains.
- Effective and practical data based decision making across all practice areas.
- Identifying evaluation measures to match referral questions
- Interpreting evaluation results
- Writing reports, sharing evaluation results, and making recommendations that meet the needs of different constituencies (e.g., parents, teachers, adult service agencies, etc.)
- Becoming an active participant in team problem solving meetings
- Individual and group counseling - creating a scheduling, building rapport, identifying and documenting progress on goals
- Providing crisis intervention
- Conducting Functional Analysis of Behavior and Developing Behavior Intervention Plans, developing plans to support general education students under MTSS and special education students under an IEP.
- Participating in efforts to effect systems change, particularly supporting the district’s efforts to create data driven Multi-Tiered supports
- Consultation and collaboration with colleagues, administrators, families, and students.
- Support finding an elementary/middle school rotation
- Following ethical standards and local laws while becoming an advocate for students and families and balancing the needs of a public school.
