Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities of Speech Language Pathologist include, but are not limited to the following:

Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech/language improvement through an Individual Education Plan.

Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and/or language disabled children.

Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.

Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, fluency and language impairments.

Provides screening, as needed, to identify speech and language impaired children at regular intervals and at specified levels including participating in the District preschool screening process as needed.

Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student’s daily activities.

Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.

Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual students receiving therapy for medicaid billing and logs identifying monthly service delivery.

Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.

Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.

Provides case management for students identified as only having a Speech Language Impairment

Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment, materials, and supplies.
Qualifications
Valid PEL (Public Educator License) with an SLP endorsement.
