Duties

Drafting and implementing Individualized Education Plans

Attending and participating in Individualized Education Planning meetings with team

Monitoring student progress and communicating information to parents within timeframes outlined in Individualized Education Plans

Using data to make evidenced-based decisions regarding student placement and services
-
Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and administration regarding student progress and needs
-
Adapting daily routines to meet the interest and needs of the individual child and the group
-
Planning and implementing activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of their students
-
Keeping accurate logs of time with parents, related service providers, and teachers
-
Implementing positive discipline
-
Observing children and making notes of progress and development
-
Integrating special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
-
Drafting Individualized Education Plans 5 days before scheduled meetings
Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a valid Illinois Teaching License with proper endorsements.
- Professional Educator License License Endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBSI) or Special Education (PK-Age 21)
- Candidates must demonstrate Teaching, Leadership, & Interpersonal Skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various groups of people in an educational environment.
- Ability to use initiative and innovation in planning and implementing programs and procedures.
- Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable.
