Duties

Instructional Duties

  1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons in math and science aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
  2. Develop and implement curriculum maps and unit plans that integrate cross-disciplinary concepts.
  3. Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs, including differentiated instruction.
  4. Incorporate technology and hands-on activities to enhance student understanding of mathematical and scientific principles.
  5. Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress.
  6. Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and identify areas for student improvement.

Classroom Management

  1. Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  2. Implement classroom management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment.
  3. Monitor and address student behavior using school-wide behavioral systems and restorative practices.

Collaboration and Professional Development

  1. Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction, share resources, and develop interdisciplinary projects.
  2. Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and school-wide initiatives to support student achievement.
  3. Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and educational workshops.

Student Support and Engagement

  1. Provide additional support and intervention for students struggling with math or science concepts.
  2. Build relationships with students to encourage their interest in STEM-related fields.
  3. Serve as an advisor, mentor, or sponsor for extracurricular activities, clubs, or academic teams.

Parent and Community Engagement

  1. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
  2. Engage families and the community in science fairs, math competitions, or other school events.
  3. Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and other required documentation.

Compliance and Additional Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to all district policies, state and federal laws, and professional ethical standards.
  2. Support and supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch or recess, as assigned.
  3. Take part in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with disabilities.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.

Qualifications

In filling this position, the candidate should possess the required licensure as specified under Article 21 of the Illinois School Code.  An Endorsement in Grades 5-8 Mathematics and/or Science is required for this position.  

Salary/Benefits

The starting salary shall be $44,160.00.  Health, dental, vision, and life insurance are available.  The term of employment is 185 days (length of the school year).
