Duties

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Displays appropriate knowledge of subject matter and district curriculum in assigned teaching area.  Follows the curriculum objectives/outcomes in regard to concepts taught, scope & sequence, and school approved course outlines.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of administration.
  • Accepts responsibility for extra-curricular activities as may be assigned.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting the needs of all students and the stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of all students on a regular basis and communicates the result of these assessments to administration and parents through regular progress reports.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Seeks the assistance of district specialists as needed.
  • Through an appropriate student management plan, controls student behavior and takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents.
  • Works in a cooperative manner with all staff to provide instructional opportunities for all students.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. 
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Participates in district and building curriculum program development.
  • Attends faculty and district meetings on a regular basis.
  • Participates and/or provides input on building and District Committees.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by administration pertaining to aforementioned position.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements or as set by Illinois State Board of Education licensure authorities. Science Senior HS Endorsements. 1 year experience preferred.
