Coordinator-Coordinator of GEAR UP (Student Career Services)

Vienna HSD 13-3 is seeking applicants for the position of Coordinator of GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), housed in the office of student career services ( director Leslie Bradley) and in direct partnership with the ISAC (Illinois Student Assistance Commission). Requirements are a bachelor’s degree with anything more advanced preferred. This position will work with Vienna High and its five feeder schools (Buncombe, Cypress, Dongola, New Simpson Hill, and Vienna), as well as various collaborations and partnerships with assigned duties and responsibilities devoted to supporting the school district in meeting the goals of GEAR UP, which are outlined below. Preferred skills for this position are leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills, technology application skills, strong initiative and organizational skills, and professional interaction with administration, faculty, the public, students, and parents. This is a 12-month position and is currently funded under a grant for at least seven years with a goal of acquiring extended funding. This posting is open until filled. The start date is flexible but can be no earlier than 1/1/2025 and no later than 2/28/2025. GEAR UP is a highly competitive grant program that helps empower local partnerships comprised of K-12 schools, institutions of higher education, state agencies, and community organizations to achieve three strategic goals:

  1. Increasing the postsecondary expectations and readiness of students.
  2. Improving high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment rates.
  3. Raising the knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and financing among students and families.
