Share: Print: Duties Prepare educational plans annually for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures Prepare therapy plans for each student identified with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) containing Occupational Therapy goals. Provide appropriate schedules for students receiving services and involve school personnel as required Conduct Occupational Therapy screenings for students when requested Provide diagnostic/evaluation testing for students identified at-risk for motor related deficits Participate in the in-school staffing and screening processes as appropriate Participate on evaluation teams for students with motor or sensory integration impairments as appropriate Develop and maintain IEPs for assigned students and ensure that appropriate and necessary data is collected and articulated to parents and school personnel Collect progress monitoring data and provide goal progress updates as required Meet with the IEP team, including parents, to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized educational needs Administer appropriate assessments as required at the local and state levels Collaborate with classroom teachers on the goals and objectives of the occupational therapy program and ways of supporting those goals in the school setting Consult with the classroom teacher as requested concerning any educational needs of students Support teachers with instructional ideas, modifications or accommodations that are appropriate for students to access general education instruction Provide consultation, training, and support to teachers and paraprofessionals regarding sensory needs of students in the school setting Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare student reports as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations Support implementation of interventions consistent with the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for non-IEP students Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team as appropriate Assist in preparation of data for local, state, and federal reports Respond to crisis and provide intervention when necessary Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities Performs other duties as may be assigned by an administrator Qualifications Current Illinois Licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution Master’s Degree preferred Knowledge of IL Learning Standards in related disciplines Knowledge of developmentally appropriate occupational therapeutic strategies Knowledge of assistive technology based interventions that assist and facilitate student learning Training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) strategies preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaborate with colleagues and team members Prior experience in a school setting preferred Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA Knowledge of IDEA and the IEP process Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Salary/Benefits Salary commensurate with experience.
