2024-2025 Temporary Speech Language Pathologist for Structured Classroom in Young Explorers Early Childhood Program at Westmoor Elementary School (3/17/2025 to 6/3/2025)
Salary: $298.19 Daily Per Diem
Assignment Duration: 3/17/2025 - 6/3/2025
Days Off: 2 holidays plus 5 days for spring break (depending on start date)
Schedule: 8:15am - 3:45pm
Qualifications & Licensure:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Speech and Language endorsement required
- Master's Degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology
- Speech-Language Pathologist License from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or Clinical Fellows
Reports to:
Assistant Director of Student Services
Performance Responsibilities:
- Co-plan and co-teach with Early Childhood Teacher to address student goals and objectives in a cross-categorical class for students identified with moderate-to-severe disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder
- Demonstrate knowledge of best practice in the area of special education service delivery
- Demonstrate the ability to work with students across a range of disabilities (i.e. Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Multiple Disabilities, etc.)
- Demonstrate an understanding of supporting students with articulation/phonological disorders
- Demonstrate an understanding of supporting students with social thinking/pragmatic language deficits
- Demonstrate an understanding of supporting students with expressive and receptive language disorders
- Support students and staff with use of Augmentative and Assistive Technology and alternative language systems
- Demonstrate the ability to problem solve in the moment in the best interest of students
- Provide individualized instruction that aligns with students' identified goals and objectives as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) on a daily basis
- Collaborate with other members of the instructional team (i.e. special education teachers, assistants, related service staff, administrators, etc.)
- Collaboratively provide instruction in all areas of development through play-based learning experiences within a structured teaching framework
- Use a high degree of modeling, reinforcement, and visual supports to optimize learning and student engagement
- Provide ongoing observation and authentic assessment of student progress and growth
- Provide written feedback to parents and teams related to a student's progress toward their identified goals and objectives
Terms of Employment:
10 Month Position; salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
