Duties
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows and supports district goals and mission and implements district programs.

Assumes responsibility for the administration of the building.
-
Supervises and evaluates all employees assigned to the building.
-
Assigns all staff members and students within the building and determines teaching schedules and student schedules.
-
Works cooperatively with other district administrators and building staff in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
-
Follows district, state, and federal guidelines in providing exceptional children services as eligible, and monitors progress of students.
-
Develops and maintains scaffolds of support for all levels of learners.
-
Develops and maintains a safe, secure environment for students.
-
Manages all monies handled in the school and is responsible for the building budget, including the approval of needed building supplies and materials in compliance with state requirements, policies and regulations of the board.

Is highly visible in the school community and establishes and maintains good relationships with parents, civic, professional, and community groups.
-
Disseminates information to the public about building activities.
-
Determines staff needs in the building and plays a key role in filling vacancies within the school.
-
Communicates regularly with staff, parents, administrators, and the Board.
-
Participates in district meetings and committee assignments.
-
Identifies opportunities for professional growth of staff.
-
Works with the district and school leadership teams in accordance with district guidelines.
-
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
MINIMUM CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
-
Possess a valid teaching certificate.
-
Experience teaching high school age children is preferred.
-
Possess a valid administrator’s certificate.
Knowledge:
-
Successful experience in supervisory/leadership positions.
-
Knowledge of adolescent development.
-
Knowledge of education laws.
-
Ability to manage budget and personnel.
Physical Requirements:
-
Perform moderately strenuous tasks.
-
Maintain emotional control under stress.
-
Excellent communication skills.
-
Strong organizational skills.
Salary/Benefits
The successful candidate will be offered the following package:

Salary commensurate with experience and degrees

Initial one year contract followed by two year contracts

12 month contract annually

ABOUT WESTERN HIGH SCHOOL
Western High School is a public four-year high school located at 401 McDonough Street in Barry, Illinois, a small city in Pike County, Illinois, in the Midwestern United States. WHS serves the communities of Barry, Hull, New Canton, and Kinderhook. Western High School was formed out of the consolidation of Barry High School and West Pike High School in 2007. The campus is located 30 miles southeast of Quincy, Illinois, 45 miles west of Jacksonville, Illinois, and serves a mix of small city, village, and rural residential communities.
Western High School competes in the West Central Conference and is a member school in the Illinois High School Association. Their mascot is the Wildcats, with school colors of red, silver, and black. Due to our small enrollment, WHS coops with nearby Pleasant Hill High School for some athletics.
