Share: Print: Duties Responsible for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair requirements of the district. Inspects all buildings, grounds, and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained. Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects. Conducts a continuing analysis of systems and procedures. Assigns duties and supervises crews of maintenance/custodial personnel. Inspects work and assists maintenance/custodial personnel when necessary. Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency. Prepares reports on cost of work performed, materials used, and labor expended. Orders materials as needed and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment purchases. Conducts a continuing program of staff training and personnel development. Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs. Maintains personnel records for maintenance/custodial staff as required. Recruits, screens, recommends for hiring and trains all people necessary to the maintenance program. Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services. Ensures that compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws is maintained. Conducts a comprehensive and detailed cost analysis program of expenditures as a basis governing the annual forecast of expenditure requirements. Conducts a continuing analysis of systems and procedures, staff training and personnel development, etc. Maintains an inventory control program. Supervises all outside contractors performing work for the district. Establishes appropriate maintenance, grounds keeping, security, and custodial requirements for each building. Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance. Establishes and supervises summer cleaning and maintenance programs and schedules. Selects trees, shrubs, plants, and seeds appropriate for sowing. Prepares watering and mowing schedules and determines the need for spraying, fertilizing, and pruning. Keeps informed of the latest trends, developments, and products in the areas of maintenance, repair, and upkeep as well as encourages innovation and experimentation where appropriate. Evaluates the performance of the maintenance staff on a regular basis. Oversees the firing of pressure boilers, repair, lubrication, and cleaning of all boiler equipment. Prepares and administers the budget for maintenance, grounds, custodial supplies, and equipment. Ensures all building and equipment inspections are completed. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Supervisory experience in industrial or school environment of facility maintenance preferred. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions. Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, administrators, students, and the public. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to push a handcart with up to 150 lbs. Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs. Salary/Benefits Salary is based on experience.
