Duties

The Bilingual/ESL Teacher provides specialized instruction for the purpose/s of developing the students’ ability to effectively perform courses of study (English or Spanish as appropriate) and acquire the English language.

Qualifications

1. Valid Professional Educator’s License of Illinois
2. Endorsement or approval in bilingual education and/or English
   as a Second Language (ESL), or Type 29 Certificate
3. Early Childhood License preferred with a strong understanding of
   early learner academic and social emotional needs
4. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work cooperatively and
   productively
5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English
   both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
   Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and
   development, effective instructional strategies, classroom
   management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research
   related to English language acquisition
6. Must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation to
   travel between all buildings within the district
7. Spanish bilingual preferred
