Duties

  1. Oversees the operations of building-level Teaching and Learning including responding to staff questions, supporting parents and students when necessary, providing policy interpretations, reviewing the success of department programs, leading meetings, and the development of agendas and budgets. 
  2. Serves as the building liaison to the District Educational Services department. 
  3. Participates in the certified staffing process.
  4. Supervises and evaluates Instructional Supervisors.
  5. Leads the curricular program by analyzing data to understand the alignment of standards, assist departments in using assessment systems, and oversee the annual curricular review process. 
  6. Leads curricular and instructional improvement efforts by using data that identifies areas of success and growth, assists departments in setting goals, and evaluates department growth.
  7. Oversees the teacher appraisal system, including providing professional development to Instructional Supervisors, and conducting observations of teachers as needed.
  8. Serves as an appeals officer for all matters regarding academic dishonesty, code of conduct, suspensions, MDRC, and other instructional issues.  May serve as one of the building's Harassments and Bullying Compliance Coordinators.
  9. Collaborates with the Associate Principal of Student Support and the Scheduler in building and maintenance of the school master schedule.
  10. Serves as the building representative to the Northfield Township Curriculum Directors.
  11. Develops and oversees staff development including planning for Glenbrook Days, Institute Day, and School Improvement late arrival days. 
  12. Collaborates with the Testing Coordinator to oversee State required assessments, placement tests, AP testing, and any other standardized testing. 
  13. Completes reports required by the State of Illinois, and others as assigned by the Principal.
  14. Participates in recruiting, interviews, and hiring processes within the school as needed.
  15. Leads and supervises the textbook and educational technology approval process and adoption in all curriculum areas.
  16. Responsible for the review and approval of Academic Attainment and professional development travel.
  17. Assists the Principal in supervising school events and activities.
  18. Plans and coordinates curriculum night for incoming Ninth graders.
  19. Collaborates with the Educational Services department with the construction of the New Teacher Orientation. 
  20. Serves as the coordinator for the new teacher mentor program.
  21. Oversees and supervises the Instructional Coaching and MTSS programs.
  22. Contributes to the production of the Course Guide including changes to existing courses, new course development, and academic policy.
  23. Oversees summer curriculum projects and supports summer school planning, supervision, and execution.
  24. Oversees Final Assessments (exams).
  25. Collaborates with the Assistant Principal of Student Services to implement a post-secondary career and college readiness program. 
  26. Participates and maintains an active role in various leadership committee meetings as assigned by the Principal.
  27. Performs special projects and assignments at the direction of the Principal and/or designee.

Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field. 
  2. Professional Educator License with a General Administration or Principal endorsement.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years experience in an instructional leadership position in a High School setting.
  4. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience. 
  5. Principal Evaluator Designation (required).
  6. Teacher Evaluator Designation or ability to obtain it before starting employment.
  7. Staff Development Experience (preferred).
  8. Current knowledge pertaining to best practices in business and operations, and curriculum and instruction. 
  9. Ability to work positively and productively with adults and high school-age students.
  10. Ability to present and produce documents at a high level of sophistication.
  11. Ability to make rational decisions, problem-solve, and effectuate change.
  12. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide range of staff members. 
  13. Knowledgeable in planning, organizing, and directing the educational assessment services of the District; the laws and regulations, codes, policies, and procedures relating to testing, assessment, and evaluation; the current and emerging educational research as well as best practice and multiple measures of student achievement.
  14. Must possess knowledge of the state and federal laws related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment as well as English Learners and Special Education.
