Duties

Marseilles Elementary School seeks a dynamic and dedicated K-8 School Library/Media Specialist to foster a love of reading, support literacy and research skills, and enhance digital learning across grade levels. The ideal candidate will teach library and literacy skills, guide students in responsible digital citizenship, and support our faculty with literary resources and training for integrating technology into the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Library & Literacy Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging lessons on library skills, information literacy, and digital citizenship for K-8 students.
  • Collection Management: Oversee the check-in and check-out process, catalog books and media, and manage circulation policies to ensure an organized, accessible collection.
  • Digital Learning: Collaborate with teachers to support digital learning initiatives, integrate technology into lessons, and provide resources for enhancing classroom instruction.
  • Reading Advocacy: Foster a culture of reading through book talks, reading challenges, and literacy events; work with students individually to recommend age-appropriate literature.
  • Library Environment: Create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive library space conducive to study, exploration, and collaboration.
  • Resource Management: Maintain library inventory, order new materials, and assess collection needs to ensure resources meet student and teacher needs.

Qualifications

Professional Educator License, Master of Library and Information Science preferred
