Duties
Berwyn North School District 98 is located in Berwyn, Illinois. The district has three elementary schools and one middle school and serves more than 2,500 students in Pre-K through 8th grade. Job Title: Middle School Teacher/Educator - Special Education
Classification: Certified
Primary Function: Responsible for increasing student achievement as defined by the IEP. Main functions include but are not limited to:

Assisting students with developing thinking skills and content knowledge

Providing accommodations and modifications as needed
-
Planning and implementation of standards-based instruction
-
Establishing a positive classroom environment and culture for learning
-
Analyzing data and action planning
-
Providing reports for and attending IEP meetings
-
Providing data and reports that are evidence of student progress
-
Consistently communicating with stakeholders
Accountability: Reports to Building Level Administrators & District Level Administrators
Education/Certification:
-
Professional Educator’s Licence (PEL) with degree/endorsement in Special Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education
-
Master’s Degree preferred
-
ESL/Bilingual endorsements preferred
Knowledge/Skills:

Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards

Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies that lead to increased student achievement

Thorough knowledge of best practices in special education

Thorough understanding of the content being taught
