Duties
Immediate opening for School Social Worker
School Social Workers at FJSPED collaborate with school staff and parents to assess students' social skills and emotional well-being. They consult with other professionals and community agencies to provide services to students. School Social Workers also provide direct clinical treatment and respond to crises in member districts. The School Social Work team participates in many learning opportunities and professional development each school year.
- Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavioral health practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate clients effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally competent counseling.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
Master's degree in school social work from an accredited institution.
Certification requirements for school social worker from Illinois State Board of Education (Type 73).

As a member of the School Social Work team at FJSPED, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals, work on a team to improve student outcomes, share information, and discuss your concerns with a team of Social Workers. You will also work closely with teachers, aides, school staff, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, School Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Vision and Hearing Impaired Specialists, and many others.
