Duties

  • Be responsible for the administration of the specified school and all facets of its instructional program, including extracurricular activities, supervision of all certified staff, and providing leadership in establishing expectations for student attendance, conduct, and learning performance.
  • Provide instructional assistance to teachers and complete teacher evaluations in a satisfactory and timely manner.
  • Coordinate professional staff development activities in collaboration with district and school improvement plan goals. 
  • Plans and facilitates safety drills and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Supervises all extra-curricular activities, enforces the physical and academic requirement of eligibility for participation in each activity, and verifies each participant’s eligibility.
  • Attend evening and weekend activities and meetings in addition to regular work hours, as may be assigned or delegated by the superintendent.
  • Responsible for the Facility Maintenance Plan and general up-keep of the assigned buildings and systems.
  • Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and situations.
  • Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and instruction.
  • Prepares reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration or state reporting system. 
  • Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.
  • Develops and approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments.
  • Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  • Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed to by the superintendent.
  • Establish and maintain an effective communication system with school personnel, students, and parents.  This includes creating content to advertise learning activities and extracurricular events to our community. 
  • Communicates regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in school.
  • Works with community members to promote good public relations for the school and incorporate community partnerships to enhance our students educational experience. 
  • Delegates authority to personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the District during the superintendent’s temporary absence from the District, as may be delegated by the superintendent.
  • Other duties or responsibilities which may be reasonably and lawfully assigned in accordance with the negotiated agreement, School Code of Illinois, or Board policy.

Qualifications

Professional Educator's License with Administrative/Principal Endorsement.

Minimum 5 years teaching experience

Other qualifications as determined necessary by the School Board

Salary/Benefits

Salary is regionally competitive and determined by the Board and outlined, along with benefits, in the Principal’s contract.
