Duties

Orchard Village, founded in Skokie, Illinois in 1972, is a fully licensed nonprofit organization that annually provides support to nearly 300 individuals (all ages) with developmental disabilities in north and northwest Chicagoland. We empower people with developmental disabilities through vocational, educational, recreational, and residential programs to live their best lives. Orchard Village is seeking a full-time School Social Worker to join our team!

Schedule : Monday - Friday : 8am-4pm

School Social Worker Description:

  • Provide individual and small group social work services to students as determined by the IEP team.
  • Develop, plan, and assist students with academic and social emotional programming in a wide range of settings.
  • Liaison between parents/guardian, school officials, and community resources
  • Conduct and collect data through evaluations, risk assessments, community based social skill integration, and other formative assessment

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • Social Work License (LSW) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (DFPR)
  • State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) as a school social worker (Type 73 (School Service Personnel Certificate with a Social Worker Endorsement), preferred
  • Background in testing and measurement.
  • Experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience working with the social/emotional needs of children and knowledge of special education.
  • Team experience including developing IEPs and coordinating services (including outside supports).
