Duties

Reporting to the Director, performs work ranging from moderate to considerable complexity applying practices and technical expertise in areas of child nutrition programs, financial management and technical assistance for the administration of the National School Lunch Program Summer Seamless Option, Summer EBT program, School Breakfast Program, nutrition and child nutrition programs.

  • Coordinates multiple project/program assignments which assist in the administration and program management of the National School Lunch Program Summer Seamless Option, Summer EBT Program, School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program. This includes interpreting federal and state regulations; providing recommendations for program implementation; assisting in the development of program instructions and procedures; coordinating the implementation of the program procedures; overseeing the implementation of federal and state regulations, policies, and guidance; monitoring procedures and technology systems for efficient program administration; coordinating and monitoring schedules and timelines related to the completion of federal and state reports and activities; serving as a liaison for program related questions from program participants, legislators, USDA and nutrition program stakeholders; and overseeing program compliance with federal and state program requirements.
  • Participates in the approval and administration of the Summer EBT Program, National School Lunch Summer Seamless Option and School Breakfast Program. This includes approving sponsoring organizations and their sites for participation in the USDA school-based programs; preparing specific data reports; assisting in the development of departmental information and technology systems; developing outreach, marketing, and targeting activities designed to increase access to USDA nutrition programs; development and dissemination of program materials and instructions; and responding to requests for program information.
  • Provides program technical assistance to agency staff, local educational agencies, program administrators, and stakeholder groups. This includes researching, developing, and disseminating training and technical assistance and training materials; developing and conducting presentations in a variety of training venues such as workshops, conferences, and webinars; developing methods to identify and share best practices; on-site technical assistance; and serving as primary contact for school districts and program administrators on fiscal, nutrition and programmatic issues related to state and federal child nutrition programs.
  • Assists with providing food service procurement technical assistance, training, and conducting food service procurement reviews to local education agencies. This includes assisting with developing and updating technical assistance and training materials and conducting training and on-site/off-site procurement reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Public Health, Business Administration, Exercise Science/Kinesiology or related field, or, a Bachelor's degree in one of these areas plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) in nutrition, home economic, food service management, business administration, exercise science/kinesiology, public health, or governmental grant programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, nutrition, food service management, exercise science, auditing, government grant programs, social services, and/or business administration management practices and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of project coordination. 
  • Knowledge of information systems. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. 
  • Travel required.

  • Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietician, or Licensed Nutritionist.
