Duties
Overview:
The Phoenix Program, a collaborative initiative between Black Hawk Area Special Education District (BHASED) and Bethany for Children and Family Services Inc., is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Principal. Located in the Illinois Quad Cities, The Phoenix Program serves students ranging from Kindergarten through 22 years old with emotional and behavior disabilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a supportive educational environment focused on helping students achieve their fullest potential.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Principal will be directly responsible to the school Principal. The individual shall provide leadership with administrative and student related services. All duties are considered essential to fulfill the requirements of Assistant Principal.
- Functions as lead building administrator when the Principal is out of the building.
- Assists the Principal in the administration and supervision of the school’s daily operations.
- Supports and oversees instructional programs and interventions.
- Collaborates with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Facilitates meetings as assigned by the Principal (IEPs, MDRs, etc.).
- Works collaboratively with the principal on scheduling and staff assignments.
- Manages student behavior and implements strategies to create a positive and safe learning environment.
- Determines appropriate disciplinary action for students.
- Facilitates professional development and training for staff to enhance instructional practices and address student needs.
- Monitors and evaluates student progress and program effectiveness.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as BHASED and policies.
- Engages with parents/guardians, the community, and stakeholders to build strong relationships and support for the program.
- Participates in the evaluation of building staff.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff.
- Oversees the assessment process.
- Assists with the selection, implementation, and monitoring of curriculum.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Phoenix Principal or BHASED Director.
Salary/Benefits
Position: Assistant Principal
Location: The Phoenix Program, Carbon Cliff, IL (Through the Black Hawk Area Special Education District - BHASED)
Type: Full-Time - 190 day contract (prorated for school year based on start date)
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000+ based on education and work experience. Partial Board paid Health Insurance, Board paid Life Insurance, paid Sick and Personal leave. TRS pension position.
Start Date: August 4, 2025
