Duties

? Performs thorough cleaning and janitorial duties in the assigned building(s) in accordance
with District procedures and as detailed by the Head Custodian, including but not limited to:
? Emptying trash receptacles;
? Vacuuming, dry mopping, washing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors and stairs using a variety of tools including powered scrubbers and buffers;
? Cleaning drinking fountains and classroom sinks;
? Replenishing soap and paper towel dispensers;
? Removing fingerprints from walls;
? Dusting furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, door trim, and whiteboards
? Washing door and window glass
? Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeteria
? Performs minor equipment repairs and maintenance such as replacing light bulbs.
? Performs snow removal operations on sidewalks and building entryways using snow
removal equipment including snow shovels, snow blowers, and ATV snow plows.
? Disposes of contaminated materials in accordance with District procedures.
? Maintains a neat and orderly custodial room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies
are stocked.
? Assists in examining school and educational facilities for safety hazards; reports
deficiencies to the Head Custodian, Principal, and/or School Safety Officer.
? Assists with set-up for and performs cleaning duties following building activities.
? Moves furniture or equipment within the building as needed.
? Responds promptly to building cleaning emergencies.
? Opens and/or closes and secures the building each day; performs security checks to verify
closed and locked doors and windows
? Performs other duties as assigned.

? Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
and equipment.
? Detail-oriented and thorough.
? Ability to work with minimal supervision.
? Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine cleaning.
? Ability to keep the school clean and orderly.
? Ability to understand and perform written and verbal instructions.
? Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining
professional, polite, and courteous.
? Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and asbestos management.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Ability to pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? 1+ years of demonstrated experience performing the responsibilities detailed in this job
description
Salary/Benefits
Starting Rate: $15.50 per hour commensurate with experience
