Duties

JOB GOAL:   

Oversee all aspects of the program, including but not limited to, development, preparation, performance, and evaluation of student-athletes, coaches, and program personnel.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Listed but not limited to:

  • Apply effective coaching strategies 
  • Oversee the assistant coaches and relevant staff of the program
  • Prepare students mentally and physically for interscholastic competition
  • Accurately evaluate student-athletes’ skills and abilities
  • Prepare daily practice schedules
  • Apply scouting and statistical data to improve team and individual success
  • Competent in knowledge and application of off-season programs
  • Take initiative to improve knowledge base and stay up-to-date with the evolution of the sport
  • Uses sounds strategies that reflect good sportsmanship
  • Meets the demands of leading an education-based athletic program
  • Takes an active role in educating student-athletes on positive life choices
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders
  • Collaborates with other coaches, programs and administrators appropriately 
  • Stays current on all licensures and certifications
  • Oversees program inventory of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
  • Works effectively with athletic trainer
  • Ensures team website is up-to-date and appropriately uses/oversees the use of social media
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Partakes in all training & education required by the state
  • Able to pass a fingerprint criminal background check

Special Knowledge/Skills/Requirements

  • Requires a broad knowledge base and understanding of the sport
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders
  • Knows and follows IHSA/IESA, and BCSD policies
  • Fiscally responsible

Salary/Benefits

Pay is based upon experience and as established by the Ball-Chatham Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule B-3 (Athletics).
