Duties
The specific duties and responsibilities of Special Education teachers shall include, but not be limited to:
- serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team to screen, diagnose, and recommend placement for the special needs of the child;
- participate in multidisciplinary staffings to help determine the child's behavioral and academic needs
- develop and implement students' Individualized Education Plan
- monitor educational and psychological adjustment to insure that the child's needs are met appropriately
- provide a therapeutic, supportive environment to assist students with their specific behavioral and academic needs
Qualifications
Must have experience with students with a variety of disabilities, including students with behavior disorders and other learning and cognitive delays
Must possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a LBS1 Endorsement for K-12
Preferred candidates will speak a second language
Preferred candidates will be willing to work with students outside of the normal school day by participating in activities, athletics, or other school related endeavors
Salary/Benefits
The salary range is $53,024 - $65,928/year. Salary depends on the number of full-time years of experience, up to 7 years, and education level, Bachelor's degree through Master's degree and 32 graduate hours beyond the Master's degree.
