Duties

Reporting to the Director, serves as a working Supervisor, provides supervision and oversight of staff; assists the Director in overseeing the functions and programs of the Wellness and Student Care department; provides leadership in cross-functional departmental work; integrates and executes the policies and expectations of the Illinois State Board of Education within the lens of providing equity for all students.

  • Assists the Director in coordinating and overseeing the functions and programs of the Wellness and Student Care department.
  • Provides lead programmatic oversight and coordination over grants and contracts in the Wellness and Student Care department. 
  • Develops and manages budgets under the authority of the Director and in conjunction with center management. 
  • Ensures that budget resources are aligned with agency goals, federal and state requirements, and incorporates outcome measurements.
  • Supervises staff. 
  • Assists in onboarding, mentoring and training new employees. 
  • Plans, assigns/reassigns, prioritizes, and reviews work assignments. 
  • Prepares documents and reports for review by the Director. 
  • Approves/denies use of benefit time. 
  • Establishes annual goals and objectives. 
  • Completes and signs performance evaluations. 
  • Provides technical guidance and direction. 
  • Counsels staff. 
  • Presents documentation of just cause for disciplinary action to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an education field or education-related field such as Wellness, Health, Healthcare, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Communication, Political Science, or Economics, or, a Bachelor's degree in one of the listed areas plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Minimum of two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) working in schools, a regional office of education, intermediate service center, community-based organization, or a state education agency.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing education. 
  • Ability to manage large scale projects and grants. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of program budgeting. 
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in developing, implementing and interpreting agency procedures. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to lead cross departmental projects. 
  • Ability to effectively manage timelines. 

  • Prior supervisory or project management experience.
