Duties
The Wilmington School District is seeking applications to fill an anticipated vacancy for an Academic Coach / MTSS Coordinator at LJ Stevens Intermediate School, serving students in grades 2-5. The MTSS Coordinator/Academic Coach will perform all necessary duties needed to implement and carry out services to enable all students to experience success in reading and math. The MTSS Coordinator/Academic Coach will implement educational programming and strategies in direct interaction with students and teachers to ensure that all children make academic progress throughout the school year. The MTSS Coordinator/Academic Coach will serve as part of their school’s leadership team, providing job-embedded and ongoing professional development for teachers and staff. He/she will provide support to the principal and faculty in data analysis and professional development decision making. The MTSS Coordinator/Academic Coach’s goal is to ensure that school staff acquires the understanding and skills to: 1) enhance instructional practices at the classroom level and 2) raise the level of the student academic achievement.
Qualifications
Successful candidates shall posses or be eligible to secure appropriate Illinois professional educator license in elementary education and/or special education. Additional qualifications include:
- NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher
- Master’s Degree in Reading, Administration, or Curriculum and Instruction - Desired, but not required
- Successful previous experience in serving as a classroom teacher
- Leadership experience and/or aptitude - Desired, but not required
Salary/Benefits
Salary would be regionally competitive, consistent with the salary schedule included in the negotiated teacher contract. Additional stipend will also be assigned to the selected candidate for work performed outside of the regular school day. Typically also 5 summer work days assigned in preparation / organization over summer break - paid at the per diem rate.
Opportunities for additional coaching or other co-curricular supervision roles may also be available
