Duties

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for screening, assessing, and identifying students with communication disorders that adversely affect their educational progress. The Speech Language Pathologist develops and provides direct and indirect services within the student’s educational setting according to the goals and objectives of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The Speech Language Pathologist collaborates with other classroom teachers and related service providers in the development and implementation of best practices, thus ensuring that the student’s needs are met in all school settings.

Qualifications

Must hold a Illinois Professional Educators License with proper endorsement 

Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited university

Proficiency in the evaluation of and programming for speech and language impairments, specifically including disorders of articulation, voice, fluency, structural and neuromuscular impairments of speech, and disorders of expressive and receptive language.

Proficiency in program-related scheduling, record-keeping, report writing, and development of Individualized Education Plans.

Conduct evaluation of students for speech and language services.

Consult with teachers and provide strategies for students who need to develop communication skills.

Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Salary/Benefits

Per Professional Negotiated Agreement between the Board of Education of School District 143 and the Educators’ Association of School District #143.
