Duties

This position is responsible for ordering, serving, stocking, recording school lunch and breakfast meals as part of the school nutrition program.

  1. Maintain a clean and safe kitchen & cafeteria environment ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation protocols
  2. Stock and serve breakfast in the classrooms.
  3. Receive deliveries for lunch service from Food Service Management Company (Aramark).
  4. Coordinate daily serving of lunch in the cafeteria with administrative staff and other staff to serve students.
  5. Establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, staff, etc.)
  6. Follow the ROE Food Safety Plan.
  7. Order food and supplies, manage inventory levels, ensure adequate stock for daily operations.
  8. Maintain accurate records of daily meal counts, servings provided and served, inventory levels, menus, and other relevant data.
  9. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  10. Communicate with school Administrators, Food Service Director, and other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the food service program.
  11. Assessing and addressing any student food allergies or dietary restrictions.
  12. Attend annual meetings, trainings, workshops, conferences to stay current on best practices and regulatory changes (10 hours per year required).

 SCHEDULING

The work hours for this position are 7:30am-2:30pm for 186 days during the school year calendar.

 

Qualifications

  1. Associates degree, or equivalent with academic major in food and nutrition, family consumer science, culinary arts, etc. and 1 yr in relevant food service experience.
    • OR – High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience.
    • Minimum 8 hours food safety training is required either prior to employment or after start date.  (This may include the Certified Food Protection Manager training).
  2. Experience with food service preferred, or have willingness to learn.
  3. Must be able to complete physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodations including:
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, or drag up to 40 pounds in the kitchen environment.
    • Ability to remain stationary for periods of time and walk long distance of hallways throughout the day.
    • Work in both cold and hot environments at times.
  4. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  5. Experience with Microsoft Excel & Outlook with ability to update the print reports and communicate with vendors to place orders.
  6. Must be organized and detail oriented with have ability to maintain accurate reporting 

Salary/Benefits

Salary: $24.50 - $29.00 based on qualifications and experience
