Duties

The psychologist is responsible to the Building Principal and the Director of Special Education for working cooperatively with school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with specialized needs.  Conduct and report upon assessment results for students during the entitlement and re-evaluation processes.  Support instruction by working with students in a counseling manner.  An understanding of and the ability to apply knowledge regarding problem-solving, curriculum based measures, and response to intervention is desired.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold appropriate State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with Bilingual Education Endorsement or (ELS) Educator License with Stipulations in Spanish
  • Bilingual Approval in Spanish
  • Excellent communications skills with students, teachers, parents and SRT, and a willingness to spend the time to assure that such communication takes place
  • Satisfactory special education psychologist experience
  • Experience in group counseling, peer mediation, parent training, behavior management/ intervention strategies strongly desired
  • Additional duties may from time to time be assigned in accordance with provisions of the Board's policies and requirements.
